THE ONE-MAN BAND'S STORY
Allowing God to Work Towards Betterment
Dealing with the challenges of today requires problem-solvers who bring different perspectives and are willing to take risks. GOMBAR Ministries emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community, with a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Birthed in India in 2003, they’re an individual (family) driven by simple ideas, bold actions, and a strong zeal to support the community through Music Ministry.
Since its conception the one-man band evolved and has made over 600 public appearances. The purpose was to bring hope and encouragement to people suffering from rejection, lonliness and despair.
Alfred’s one-man band work was recognized in the first-ever one-man band book “Head, hands, and
feet, a book on one-man bands," by Dave Harris in 2012. In this book, which covers about a thousand artists world over, Alfred was featured and was the only entry from India!
Alfred performs, on invitation, at various churches and events to facilitate praise and worship and does preaching as well.
The One-man Band version is mainly used in the public square for busking and connecting with (homeless) people while Hymns4Respite was tailored to meet the needs of the elderly in the aged care setting.
The future:
GOMBAR Ministries engages in community out-reach work and seeks collaboration with other organisations.
